Does anyone on this ship have any experience with a sword? I mean, I would prefer it if you've done more than just look at it, but even the most hopeless have to start somewhere.

I would suggest the lance but it seems a little impractical here. There's always the mace. Or if you have your own weapon of choice, I'm willing to learn.

Should be. Meet you in the gym?

[.... that's probably not true.]

I will see you there, Tim.

[And that afternoon, Tim is in the gym in sweats, stretching and waiting.]

[Sweats? WTF are those. Arthur has light chainmail on, but once he sees that Tim doesn't have it, he'll take it off. To be fair.]

"I'm sorry if I kept you waiting."

[Heavy armor is overrated anyway, okay. Tim waves a hand, then settles both on his hips.]

Don't worry about it. So what kind of rules do you spar with?

[You are a rather odd kid.]

"Since I don't wish to kill you, and I hope you don't want to kill me, the first man to lose his sword forfeits the match."

[Everyone is odd to you. Tim smiles at that, and reaches out to take his sword, turning it and getting a feel for the weight.] Sounds good to me. How long have you been training?

"Since I was old enough to know what a sword was." [He might sound a little smug. You don't get to be the best in Camelot just because you are the prince.] "And yourself?"

[Yeah okay of course Arthur would be smug. Tim shrugs, and settles the sword in one hand, bending his knees. Okay he's ready.] A few years. Maybe you should go easy on me.

[Arthur slips off his chainmail before he takes position.] "How are you going to learn if I baby you?"

[HIS KIND OF TEACHER. Tim might be trying to hold back a smile.] Guess that's one theory.

[And he's stepping forward, slashing at Arthur's middle.]

[Arthur deflects it kind of easily, sorry bro. He feigned towards Tim's left, taking a few sharp steps forward before suddenly going for the right.]

[He expected it, so that's cool. The feint Tim avoids, jumping away from the real blow.] Not bad.

[And footwork time. He takes a few steps forward, jumps back, darts in with a high chop.]

[And so it continued, Arthur advancing and retreating when necessary. Tim did some things he'd never seen before. But his experience won out in the end, and he managed to force Tim to drop his sword. Arthur held his sword to his chest for a moment before relaxing.]

"You did well."

[Tim's breathing harder, and smiles a little at the praise, shrugging and retrieving the sword. He keeps it point down, leaning on it.]

Thanks. Is this how everyone in Camelot fights? [Nerdy dreamland.]

"We try for it. Not everyone is as good as me."

Or as humble.

"When you're the best in the kingdom, you get to be."

I see where the ego came from. If you need a sparring partner again, I'm around. I don't usually get to practice fencing that much.

"Thank you, Tim. You need the practice." [This is post Merlin I just realized, he probably waled on you pretty good Tim sorry :c]

[Tim can take it like a pro, it's cool. :c THIS IS WHAT HE HAS TRAINED FOR, AFTER ALL.]
