Arthur gave him a completely unamused look.

"You enchanted yourself. And touched my hair."

"Really? I don't remember that."

Yes he did. Every terrible moment of it.

Arthur didn't seem to care if he remembered it or not. He was just as offended either way.

"That, Merlin, is because you're an idiot."

Arthur still appeared to be prepared to follow his advice though, so Merlin was electing to take that on the chin. And it was easier than pointing out he hadn't been himself and had dealt prolonged, bloody deaths to three people while not himself, two of whom he now had to share the Barge with.

"Yes, sire."

He nodded slightly and didn't say anything for a long minute before he straightened a little bit, like gaining strength to say it. "I suppose some thanks are in order. For alerting me to the truth." Whether he means about Morgana or not killing her, that is for Merlin to decide.

Merlin gave a single nod of his own. He couldn't say he wouldn't hide anything from Arthur again because honestly he couldn't guarantee that, but still....

"You're welcome."

He twisted his heel against the floor, restless.

"I'll....go, then."

Arthur started to nod and then he changed his mind, looking over at Merlin. "But first, Merlin? There seems to be something on my boots. You should probably clean them. By hand." Yeah, he figured you did something magical to his boot to keep him from chasing Morgana. No more stupid stories when it came to that shit anymore.

There was something extremely centring about being ordered to carry out domestic tasks for Arthur. He didn't think about it too deeply.

"I'll come when I'm finished in the infirmary tonight."

Don't be shy in admitting your love for chores, Merlin. Arthur has a million of them for you. You should see the mess his room is now.

"Don't work too hard. You'll need your strength."
