Is it really normal to go weeks and weeks without being assigned to someone? Has anyone else gone through it? It seems like a waste of time.

I illustrate it as a possibility.

Merlin is here to operate in the capacity of a warden, not servant and should be referred to as such. Simply put, why would a prospective inmate see you as an example to aspire to, when you rely upon others to take care of your own affairs? What do you have to offer them?

If squandering your personal time is a concern, offering your services to other wardens would at least be a valuable learning experience. Perhaps Merlin, himself?
